Thank you Veronika for yesterday, it was so beautiful and something we will treasure for a lifetime. The party went on, but the ceremony was our favourite part of the day. We have had the best time! Thank you for making our ceremony just so so special. A lot of people complimented how good the ceremony was throughout the night. They said it wasn’t like any other wedding they’d been too as it was so personal, and had such different parts to it (like the pineapple ritual, rings blessing, flower circle, and basically the way you deliver and the content itself). And we completely agree! We loved it so much and how it was completely in tune with who we are.

We opened some cards and gifts yesterday and we love that you have left us our ceremony! The scroll style and ribbon is beautiful and we’ll be keeping it with some of the flowers.

And thank you for the beautiful card and message. We have said to many people that we just knew when we met you that you’d be a perfect celebrant and when we’ve talked about the ceremony with other people we knew we made the right choice.

Veronika Robinson – Tender Lady Celebrant

(Two Funerals and a Handfasting Ceremony)

We first met Veronika in 2020 when our funeral director (Tracy Lazonby, Final Journey Funerals) set her up with us to officiate my mother-in-law, Sharon’s funeral.

What followed, was the most beautiful service, paying tribute to our loved one, with tears & love, remembrance & laughter, just as Sharon would have wanted.

Veronika always treated us, and her task with the upmost respect and reverence. It was a time of Zoom calls and no hugs, but the genuine love and warmth we felt from Veronika was lovely, even through a screen! We chose to do readings, and Veronika helped us and encouraged us on the day, allowing us space and providing support so we could pay homage to Sharon.

When, sadly, the time came for us to organise my own mother’s funeral in Dec 22, mum had already expressed that she wanted Veronika to lead it.

When Veronika came to my home to organise the service and learn more about Mum; she walked into an almighty family row between my father and me! Unperturbed, she waited and helped smooth things out, so we could get the work necessary done. Our young daughters wanted to be involved in the service, so Veronika suggested our youngest (not keen on speaking) did a picture tribute for her Gran and helped our eldest find a reading which fit completely with our family’s beliefs about death (The Ship – Henry Scott Holland).

We had the most beautiful memorial service, but I knew it would be perfect with Veronika at the helm. It was truly one of the saddest, but most love filled days of my life.

We have had some sad times with Veronika, but upon celebrating a decade of marriage; my husband and I decided we would have a vow renewal, only because we knew the perfect celebrant for the job!

We asked Veronika to craft a ceremony which held remembrance and thanks for what had been, to give thanks for the blessings we have, and to set an intention for the next phase of our marriage/family life.
We had a perfect day, exceeding expectations. Veronika incorporated our pagan beliefs, paid tribute to our ancestors, passed parents… and Shakin Stevens (don’t ask!), and told our love story with her inimitable, tender way. She crafted bespoke rituals for us and our children to be involved in, as well as the better known handfasting (with a stunning cord she made for us) and jumping the broom. It was stunning, my only regret is that it’s over and I can’t do it every week!

I would go out of my way to recommend Veronika to anyone wanting a heart led, person centred ceremony of any kind. She goes above and beyond for her clients – whatever their belief system, situation, circumstances. Truly a master of her craft, when she writes about something, creating a ceremony, it’s coming from the heart, with love. Whether it’s telling your love story or retelling your loved one’s life story, Veronika is the woman for the job.

Celebrant Training (Advanced Celebrancy and Rituals)

My training had a profound impact on me and despite my natural cynicism of such things, I find myself having to concede that perhaps it was not just chance that led me to Heart-led Celebrant Training! 

The face-to-face element was simply glorious, consisting as it did of deep, meaningful conversations about life, love and the universe.  What could be better or indeed more important?  The days spent in Cumbria were a sanctuary of spirituality and creativity; returning to the ‘real world’ felt harsh and challenging. 

I found myself exposed and vulnerable during the training but never did I feel unsafe, such is the unconditional support and love that radiates from Veronika.  I believe that vulnerability is critical to preparing for a role as a celebrant – the people I will be serving will be exposed and vulnerable; it is absolutely critical that I acknowledge and understand that and that I respond with humanity and integrity.  If I am not prepared to be vulnerable, how can I possibly care for and support others who are?   

My initial training was incredibly informative and I learnt more than I can express.  Of course, lots of practical things to do with actual rituals and actual ceremonies but I also learnt about myself; I learnt that despite having always thought I was not a creative person, actually I can be and what is more I enjoy being creative.  I had the opportunity to confirm my values and to understand my limitations.  I discovered that I have a genuine calling to perform this role. 

 

The follow up training has been challenging at times – I will never forget the moment when I read that I needed to create a ritual using paper dolls!  It has also been one of the most important and fulfilling elements of my life.  I have relished every single task, even the ones that I started by thinking, “What!  You have to be joking!” 

I have found myself delving into the inner part of my heart and soul to find the right words or actions to convey a meaning that needs expression.  I am absolutely sure that this work has prepared me as best it possibly can for my role as a celebrant.   

 

In terms of the voice coaching, it took me a little longer to ‘get’ what this was all about.  I appreciated straight away the expertise of Paul and valued the techniques he shared but having spent my career thus far perfecting the ability to read well and, if I am honest doing a pretty good job, it took me a while to let go of that and to fully embrace the heart-led recount approach.  However, once I did I loved the emotion and spontaneity I was able to bring to passages.  Having returned to the ‘real world’, my weekly sessions with Paul became a highlight and a window back to the ‘different’ world of Heart-led practice.  He helped me to understand not just the creation of a ceremony as a creative process but the delivery too. Like the face-to-face training, the voice coaching offered both philosophical approaches as well as practical tips in abundance. 

 

I have never liked seeing myself on screen but the videoing and recording is invaluable and the discipline of recording myself has proved most insightful.  I know that I will carry the tips offered by Paul into every ceremony I am privileged to perform and that this will contribute massively to the celebrant I become.   

 

An important ‘take away’ from my training is that it isn’t over!  My life as a celebrant both in training and on the job is training for my role.  As celebrants we bring our life’s experiences to our role, not to share or to overshadow those of our clients but rather to make us compassionate, caring and empathetic people who can stand alongside those choosing to acknowledge an event with a ceremony.   

 

I am convinced I could not have had any better preparation for my new role and believe that my Heart-led training is absolutely fundamental to me becoming the very best celebrant I possibly can.  I am forever grateful to Veronika and Paul for their gentleness, compassion and empathy not to mention their fun and sense of humour.   ~ Catrina Young

Eco-burial Ceremony at Dalton Woodland

Veronika officiated at my husband’s woodland burial ceremony. Actually ‘officiated’ doesn’t even come close.

Veronika spent a lot of time with me getting to know my husband and gently guiding me through the options for the ceremony.

The service she created was simply beautiful; she really captured the essence of who my husband was. I remember glancing across at one of my husband’s closest friends at the end of the ceremony and she just beamed at me and mouthed ‘perfect’. And it was.

Heart-led Ceremonies Celebrant Training

My life has been changed by meeting Veronika and Paul. When I made my resolution to train as a celebrant at the beginning of this year, I spent a long time looking at various training options and weighing up the pros and cons of each option. And then, when a friend of a friend suggested training with you I didn’t hesitate to contact you. It felt right, and I am so glad that I did. The universe made sure that we were connected and I hope that we stay connected. I can’t thank you both enough for your training.

Veronika – lovely lovely Veronika. I don’t know where to start. Your sweet, calming nature is such a tonic in today’s frantic world. You taught me to stop, and look, and listen to all the things that pass us by in day to day life. I already practiced mindfulness for my own wellbeing but you showed me how to stop and look for symbolism in everything. I mean, who knew that my hula hooping was actually grounding me in a circle of reverence. I knew that I had good listening skills, I’ve been using them for the past 15 years in my social work role, but you taught me more than I ever knew about listening even in the quiet. You taught me how to write and use my imagination in ways that I didn’t know I could, and to believe in my own words. I learned how to look like I was calm and in control even at times when I am not. To always have a ‘tool kit’ to deal with any eventuality. The time that I spent with you at home is time that I will always remember and treasure. I felt comforted and cared for because you exude all of these qualities. And your soups are amazing!!!

The training that I undertook with Heart Led Celebrant Training is one of the best things I have ever done. A whole new world has been opened up to me. ‘Heart Led’ couldn’t be more appropriate. What a life changing experience! My heart is absolutely full from celebrant training with Veronika and Paul Robinson. Highly recommend! It’s been so nourishing, full of smiles and so yummy!!

I can feel I’ve changed so much, and know more will change as this is just the beginning of my celebrant path.

I’m just so grateful to have had hands-on experiences from shadowing Veronika being her beautiful celebrant self at a funeral.. shadowing Veronika with a funeral phone call… To shadowing a family visit for funeral arrangements.

I walked into this thinking I would not be a funeral celebrant, but turns out the universe has other plans for me.

With the support of Veronika and a sprinkle of self belief, the funeral celebrant path is one I know I will do with the most sacredness I can offer.

Author Blessingway Ceremony

Veronika co-designed and led a very unique online ‘Author Blessingway’ ceremony for me to mark the release of my first novel and celebrate the fulfilment of a lifelong dream to become a published author.

In the design phase, Veronika listened deeply to my vision for the event and helped me to shape an amorphous idea into something powerful with coherent structure and flow. An important aspect of my ceremony was to create a feeling of inclusion and community around me, and Veronika contacted some key people to be part of the proceedings on my behalf which worked beautifully well.

On the day, I was excited and nervous. It felt like such a big moment and I wondered whether it would have the meaning and impact I hoped for, knowing we were about to do something a bit quirky. Veronika tuned into this when we met beforehand and provided exactly the reassurance I needed to help me to trust the process and be present in the experience.

The ceremony was wonderful. You could feel the magic and love despite the fact we were on screens from different parts of the UK, USA and Canada. Veronika held the space beautifully and mesmerised us all with her masterful word-smithery and graceful presence as I said goodbye to an old version of me whose story had come to an end, and took my first step into writing my new ending.

In fact, it was so effective in enabling an identity-level shift that the following day a friend and former colleague who’d attended the ceremony rang. “You’ll never guess what?” she said “A workman came to your old office today and removed your name from the glass door!!!” This was particularly heart-stopping, as I had left that job with the glass door two+ years earlier when I began to make the life changes that led to me publishing my book. It felt like a tangible piece of feedback to confirm that we had absolutely hit the mark with our ceremony, and a deep identity-level shift had happened – something which has continued to ripple out across my life ever since.

I cannot recommend Veronika highly enough. She is amazingly skilful at what she does, and brings a winning combination of playful creativity and sacred reverence to her work. She’s a joy.

Celebration of Life ceremony (during the Pandemic)

Good Morning Veronika  …

Emma, Martyn and I would like to thank you most sincerely for the most excellent way in which you celebrated Mum’s life on Wednesday last. From our initial Zoom meeting to the funeral itself, you included us all the way. Not only did you use our own words, reminiscences and emotions to craft the eulogy, but you included us in the drafting process, so that we felt that it was we three, who were telling Mum’s story. You also provided support and empathy during an unusual and very difficult period for us and our families.

I was particularly fond of the ‘driving’ metaphor running through the piece, which captured Mum’s spirit perfectly. One of my daughters is standing at a crossroads in her life right now and your description of her Grandma is helping her to make some decisions. When you described Mum’s ambition thus, “Her greatest driving force and competition was always with herself,” both Jenny and I recognised ourselves there too. Jenny is now taking great comfort in the fact that her Grandma is continuing to help her in making important life choices.

I have received so many messages since Wednesday from friends and family, who watched the streaming of the service, telling me what a wonderful send off we gave Mum; the absolute best that we could in these difficult times. The music was Mum’s, the format was yours; and they blended together to give us a beautiful service. A cousin of ours told me, that the chocolate eclairs were a touch of genius!

So, thank you once more, Veronika. We are very lucky that you came into our lives at this saddest of times.

Veronika led my daughter’s baby naming ceremony in my garden in Yorkshire. Prior to the event, she advised and guided myself and my husband as to what we might include in the ceremony, giving us some really lovely and meaningful ideas that we would never have thought of and were grateful to learn.

Everything was clear and concise and heart-felt and this is what struck the traditionalists who were present, that it all felt genuine and deep and from the heart. The whole event went so smoothly, Veronika as a consummate professional ensured everyone was at ease right from the start and our daughter’s special day was beautiful, memorable and complete.

Veronika’s professionalism impacted me so much that I went on to train as a celebrant with her. Just as I expected, the course was thorough, complete, enriching and heart-felt. I came away feeling equipped, prepared and confident to start a new venture as a celebrant. Can’t thank her enough.

“As I sit on this sunny morning, thinking about the Moving Ceremony I am working on, my thoughts wander to my training with Veronika and Paul and the delicious, heart-full time I spent steeping in, well… Feelings.

This training was, more than I could have imagined, a really personal journey, into the place where my heart meets the world. To be a Heart-Led Celebrant of course requires tapping into the territory of this deep well of emotion, which Veronika so skillfully walked me through. Considering so many aspects of potential clients- their stories, their emotional states, expectations to work with, I felt at moments overwhelmed, though soothed by the support of my two teachers on this journey.

There were the very useful practicalities of being a celebrant that give me confidence in being able to begin this work, AND, what was so unique about this training was the space they held for real depth, beauty, sadness, to be welcomed. In order to really, truly serve those who choose me as a celebrant, I need this ability to really Listen, and to glean what is important to my clients. To do this I need to know myself even better.

I was given the opportunity to really feel the importance of this work, the possibilities of holding space for others to truly shine, to deeply feel their own connection with life and love, with death and grieving.

The work of a celebrant is sacred, and Veronika and Paul, each in their own way, shared the skills that keep this work sacred.

I had been looking at becoming a celebrant for over a year. I’d done a lot of research before looking for someone to train me. Well, looking at training there are quite a few, but on looking I became disheartened as what I thought being a celebrant was all about was not being reflected on the training providers I was looking at. Some of the feedback from other people on some social-media platforms just went to show it is all about making money, rather that delivering a service to people at the most important and emotional times of their lives.

Veronika officiated my wedding to Nicola just over a month ago. The ceremony was unequivocally the most beautiful hour of my life. We have so much to thank you for. I don’t know where to begin. Perhaps at the beginning, which was you following up my hesitant and dithery message saying we didn’t know what we were looking for, and we had no money!! So thank you for not erasing the message!

It has been a wild ride! It took us a long time to get going though, due to our lack of imagination. Then, when we began to see the possibilities, life gave us other problems and pressures! Life kept interrupting the process of us shifting through many possible paths and directions for our ceremony. When we felt a little overwhelmed with choice, you patiently brought us back on task, reflecting to us what we had selected, even when our ideas were vague… or when we were only able to tell you what we didn’t want.

Thank you so much. Your support and guidance has done so many things. Some we wanted and asked you for, some we couldn’t have imagined. All we love! So thank you.

You had wise words for us which have helped both ground us and give us flight! Both of us had different ideas, and having someone to hear us and guide us towards our combined ceremony was essential. I’m glad we chose you, Veronika. Although we didn’t really get the benefit of getting to know you, because your role was to channel ‘us’, we got a sense of you though, and your lovely gift (The Mystic Cookfire recipe book) is already in use, and your recipes will continue to give us pleasure. Thank you again!

You were right about so many things, especially about allowing our guests to love us. To our great delight, everyone mingled and made connections! They really took the business of being a good wedding guest very seriously.

Ken has recovered from his state of delirious happiness, and we have settled into a giddy state of euphoria! Seriously! We are both still talking constantly about the wedding, our guests, and our beautiful ceremony.

From the seemingly simple act of naming our foremothers at the opening of the ceremony to the mother-nurturing acts, such as the other women picking local wild flowers and plaster-casting my tummy, the blessingway was full of energy and power which I felt set me up for a gentle and beautiful birth. I came away with amazing memories of the well-wishes of the other mothers and a string of beads to make these wishes more tangible in labour.

Dear Veronika, how do I begin? How can I put into words the feelings inside my heart as I write my THANK YOU to you? Here goes!

I have known you some thirteen years, and have grown to love you, your husband, Paul, and family. We are so well blessed that our paths have crossed, and we have felt enlightened by your presence.

Always a listener, never judgmental, the calmness of your voice filled with such love and compassion upon taking the stand and leading us into the ceremony. The comforting way you delivered the eulogy — it touched so many people who joined with us to celebrate my dear Colin’s life. So many friends have telephoned to ask who you were, and how we found you, as they expressed how meaningfully you spoke to them, and how much it meant to them in their loss of a special friend.

It was a day to remember, by us all, of a man who lived honestly with such love for his wife, family and friends. You, in your unique style, paid homage to this with such emotion and truth, and I will treasure your tenderness for the rest of my life. I do hope you will be around when it’s my time to pass.

The Farewell, My Friends poem was a bonus of a find. As soon as I heard those words, when you first sent us a draft of your service, I knew it was Colin’s poem, epitomising his life so perfectly.

When my daughter was about 2 years old, Veronika planned and officiated her naming ceremony, using our family input to personalise it. Once again, I found her understanding and delivery of ritual to be intuitive, meaningful and beautiful. Ok, so I’m starting to feel like a cheerleading team, but SERIOUSLY I just want to remind people what an INCREDIBLE resource we have in Veronika.

I’ve been feeling pretty terrible for a while now since I moved to England two years ago, birthed Tristan in less than ideal circumstances, and have been trying to sort out being a new mother and married in a new country.
